This class is the NRA Personal Protection in the Home Instructor class. This class is 8-9 hours long. This class consists of about 5 hours of classroom time and 3 hours of range time. Students will learn how to teach basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the instructors manual for this course.
Things to bring with you -
- eye protection,
- ear protection,
- comfortable shoes,
- semi-auto pistol or a revolver(must be at least a 9mm),
- two or three magazines for your semi-auto or speed loaders for your revolver,
- comfortable clothing,
- knee-pads(optional),
- holster(optional).
- You will probably need 300 rounds for this class.
Certifications are issued by
the NRA Training Dept. There are certification and processing fees
that are paid directly to NRA. The fees are $30 if you are an NRA
member. The fees are $50 if you are not a NRA member. That is for a
2 year certification. This price doesn't include BIT. Please
remember NRA Instructor courses are performance based courses.
Students must possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for this
level of training. You do not pay and automatically pass instructor training.
